Da Vinci Code -- Zaadz Project
I'm going to regret this. But I'm kind of grumpy at the moment.
I just saw the Da Vinci code and the more I think about it, the less I like it.
I know that who got to write and direct it was mostly about who had the pull to acquire the rights when it mattered, but, geez, imagine if it had been made by a director with a talent for imagery or a writer with imagination.
How to put it.... the movie was one long explainer scene. No attempt to build anticipation. Just a lot of, "Hey, look at this. This means this," followed by a chase scene.
I thought the coolest parts of the book were the grand riff on history and the secret meanings of common symbols. But that was tossed out.
The alibino was the only character with any emotional heat.
Well, anyway...
Z@@DZ is my rating. The churches were pretty and Paul Bettany did a good job.
This helped rinse the taste out of my mouth.

“I thought the coolest parts of the book were the grand riff on history and the secret meanings of common symbols. But that was tossed out.”
i agree with this. it was less on the visuals. not even a mention of Disney and Minnie Mouse :)
but then again it was Ron Howard who directed it and i think he approached it in a simplified, er. realistic way: same pacing, effects, and presentation as that of Beautiful Mind.
now if JJ Abrams directed this, then it would probably be one of the best action adventure ever.
but anyway, i still like the movie.
P.S. that YouTube video is dope!
I agree – they should have treated it more like it was Indiana Jones 4.
But driving home I kept thinking about just how amazing it might have looked if they'd let someone like David Fincher at it.
And I won't even cop to how many times I've watched that YouTube video already.
bless you for the ten commandos. sinead looks fab!
Lauren: You are quite welcome. The thing with Samuel L. Jackson has made me laugh every time I watch it.
haven't seen da code, but got a big kick out of the you tubage! thanx!
